Türkiye’s defense industry is opening a new chapter in mini unmanned aerial systems as locally developed kamikaze drones and new operational concepts continue to multiply, with the SkyDagger family adding a new fixed-wing platform and achieving a key air-launch milestone.
Originally launched last year to develop FPV (first-person view) kamikaze drones that allow operators to fly as if inside the aircraft using goggles or screens, SkyDagger has since built a full product family in multiple sizes.
The company has now diversified its rotary-wing lineup with a new fixed-wing solution, the SKYDAGGER TOYCA 05.
Baykar General Manager Haluk Bayraktar announced the drone on social media, calling it Türkiye’s newest kamikaze swarm UAV.
A video shared with the announcement shows the catapult-launched aircraft performing aggressive, high-speed maneuvers.
SKYDAGGER TOYCA 05 features:
SkyDagger noted that its fixed-wing production line has the capacity to manufacture more than 30,000 units annually, signaling high-volume supply potential for swarm operations.
In a separate development, SkyDagger released footage of an important air-launch concept test for the Turkish defense industry.
During the test, the Skydagger 7 FPV kamikaze drone was successfully released mid-air from Baykar’s Bayraktar KALKAN VTOL UAV, demonstrating seamless integration between two different UAV systems.
The successful drop marked the first time these platforms executed a combined mission.
Bayraktar KALKAN DIHA, designed for reconnaissance, surveillance and intelligence roles, can also be used as an airborne launch platform for smaller munitions or kamikaze drones.
This method substantially extends the operational range and mission duration of the released drones.
