Bayraktar Kizilelma successfully completed the performance test flight of the MURAD 100-A AESA radar developed by Aselsan.

Baykar Chairman of the Board Selcuk Bayraktar shared footage from the test flight on his social media account.

According to footage, the Kizilema fighter unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) conducted its first tests using the Toygun electro-optical sensor and targeting system (EOTS) along with the Murad Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar.

Both systems are designed for use in manned and unmanned fixed-wing combat platforms.

Stealth-focused design by Aselsan

Aselsan’s Toygun EOTS was developed primarily for low-observability (stealth) platforms such as KAAN and Kizilelma.

Unlike traditional external targeting pods, the system was designed to minimize impact on the aircraft's aerodynamic structure and radar cross-section (RCS), preserving stealth capabilities.

First AESA integration on turbofan platform

The Murad AESA radar test marked the first known integration of this radar into a turbodan engine aircraft, following its previous use on the Bayraktar Akinci, which features a turboprop motor.

Türkiye also aims to use the Murad AESA radar in its domestic modernization initiative, the Ozgur project.

Kizilelma as testbed for KAAN systems

The Kizilelma UAV may serve as a testbed for systems intended for the KAAN fighter jet, alongside Turkish Aerospace Industries' (TAI) flying testbed platform, the Bombardier 6000 aircraft.

This was previously announced by TAI CEO Mehmet Demiroglu during an interview with Aviation Week on April 30.

The radar opens a new era in Türkiye’s national fighter jet ecosystem by introducing indigenous solutions in electronic warfare and radar technologies.
