Turkish police detained 22 people, including several well-known figures from the entertainment industry, as part of an investigation into alleged drug-related and prostitution offenses in Istanbul, according to local media reports.
The detainees reportedly include singer Kenan Dogulu, actress Beren Saat, musician Ozan Dogulu, actor Enis Arikan, singer Berdan Mardini and social media personality Kerimcan Durmaz.
The operation was carried out by the anti-narcotics teams of the Istanbul Police Department as part of an investigation led by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities issued detention orders for 22 suspects before the police teams took them into custody. The case falls under Türkiye’s wider efforts to crack down on narcotics, which officials describe as a public health and security concern.
The full list includes Ayse Hatun Onal, Tolga Cam, Ferhan Kaya, Murat Saygi, Enis Ahmet Onat, Ahmet Karoglu, Emre Tari, Hasan Vatan, Kerimcan Durmaz, Kenan Dogulu, Beren Saat, Mehmet Cem Karci, Berdan Mardini, Reyhan Kucukyegen, Ozan Dogulu, Yasar Ipek, Mehmet Yildiz, Tessy Ramos Correira, Enis Arikan, Rafet Eren Yorulmazer, Ali Efe Bezci and Selin Cigerci.
Following their detention, the suspects were taken for medical checks, a standard procedure in Turkish law enforcement processes.
They were later transferred to the Anti-Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate’s facility in Istanbul’s Kucukcekmece district, where they were expected to give statements as part of the investigation.
