Cargo ship runs aground off Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait

A 100-meter cargo vessel flying the flag of the Comoros ran aground off Kisirkaya near Sariyer on the Istanbul Bosphorus, prompting rescue operations by Turkish maritime authorities.

The ship, named "Razouk," was sailing in waters off the Istanbul Bosphorus en route to anchor at Constanta Port in Romania when it ran aground off Kisirkaya for reasons not yet determined, according to reports.

Coast guard teams from were dispatched to the area following notification of the incident. Work to free the stranded vessel remains ongoing.

The incident occurred in the Bosphorus, a narrow strait that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara and serves as a critical shipping route between European and Asian ports.
