A component assessed to be a drone wing washed ashore on a beach in Sakarya province's Kocaali district on Thursday, as a second unidentified unmanned vehicle was also found on the coast of Ordu province's Fatsa district.
The latest in a series of incidents along Türkiye's Black Sea coast involving unmanned aerial and maritime vehicles.
The component was spotted on the beach in the Caferiye neighborhood of the Kocaali district by a restaurant operator who arrived at his business in the morning and noticed a large object resembling an aircraft wing on the sand near the waterline.
He notified emergency services via the 112 emergency call center.
Gendarmerie and coast guard teams were dispatched to the scene and established a security perimeter.
Initial inspections determined the object to be a wing component of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The component was documented, loaded into a vehicle and taken away for detailed technical examination.
The country or institution to which the component belongs will be determined following the technical inspection.
A separate incident occurred in the Bolaman neighborhood of the Fatsa district in Ordu province, where citizens spotted a suspicious object on the beach on Thursday morning and notified emergency services.
Gendarmerie teams established a security cordon and conducted an inspection.
The object was assessed to be an unmanned aerial or maritime vehicle.
The Ordu Governor's Office issued a statement confirming the find.
"In Bolaman Neighborhood of our Fatsa district, at approximately 10:00 on Thursday, March 26, 2026, a device assessed to be an unmanned maritime or aerial vehicle, measuring approximately 2 meters by 50 centimeters, washed ashore," the statement said.
"An inspection conducted by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams of the Ordu Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Criminal Branch found no explosive material or ammunition in the device," the statement added.
The device was handed over to Fatsa District Gendarmerie Command's crime scene investigation team and will be sent to the Criminal Department for further examination, in accordance with the instructions of the Fatsa duty prosecutor.
The incidents follow a separate and more serious case from March 20, when an unmanned surface vehicle, which was assessed to be active and carrying ammunition, washed ashore in the Yuceler neighborhood of Ordu's Unye district.
Following inspections, Underwater Defense Command (SAS) teams towed the USV approximately four kilometers out to sea on March 21 and destroyed it.
