A missile warhead that had been drifting at sea washed ashore at Yalikoy Beach in the Catalca district of Istanbul on Wednesday, March 19, prompting a gendarmerie response.
The component was found to have no explosive properties and was subsequently disposed of by gendarmerie teams.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. in the Yalikoy neighborhood of Catalca.
Citizens notified authorities after spotting the warhead on the shore.
Gendarmerie teams dispatched to the scene examined the component and determined it posed no explosive risk before carrying out its disposal.
