Erdogan expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries, grounded in what he described as brotherly relations, would continue to reach new heights.
He said Türkiye and Azerbaijan would draw strength from those ties to take their collaboration to a higher level.
Erdogan once again congratulated Aliyev on the anniversary of Azerbaijan’s restored independence.
Azerbaijan formally restored its state independence in October 1991, shortly before the Soviet Union dissolved, and marks the date as a national holiday.
Türkiye was among the first countries to recognize the independent Azerbaijani state.
Erdogan invited Aliyev to attend the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which will be held in Ankara.
The organization brings together Turkic-speaking countries to coordinate on political, economic and cultural matters.
It was founded in 2009 as the Turkic Council and took its current name in 2021. The information provided did not specify a date for the summit or say whether Aliyev accepted the invitation.
Aliyev thanked Erdogan for the call and for his congratulations on the anniversary. He also expressed confidence that the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye would keep developing successfully.
