President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by telephone Tuesday with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with both leaders expressing mutual appreciation for their countries' contributions to an ongoing ceasefire process centered on Iran.
According to a statement from the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate, the two leaders discussed the ceasefire process and recent developments. Erdogan thanked Sharif for Pakistan's role in the effort, while Sharif in turn credited Türkiye for its contributions.
Erdogan stressed that the two-week peace window must be used effectively, and said Türkiye would continue to support efforts toward durable peace and stability in the region.
Sharif confirmed the call in a post on X, describing Erdogan as his "dear brother" and saying he was grateful for the Turkish president's encouragement of what he called Pakistan's "humble and sincere efforts for regional peace."
"We shall continue to work tirelessly with our friends and partners, including Türkiye, in our common quest for securing lasting peace in the region," Sharif wrote.
Both governments indicated they would sustain coordination on regional peace efforts going forward.
