President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday for a one-day working visit, his communications director said Thursday, with the trip expected to bring him together with both the kingdom's crown prince and Pakistan's prime minister.
Communications Director Burhanettin Duran announced the visit in a post on NSosyal, a Turkish social media platform, saying Erdogan is expected to meet Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman during the trip.
According to Duran, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to be present for meetings with Erdogan during the visit, raising the possibility of trilateral engagement between the three leaders.
Duran's statement did not specify further details on the agenda, and no additional information on the substance of the talks was immediately made available.
Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have maintained formal diplomatic relations for nearly a century, dating to a friendship treaty signed in 1929, and the two governments have in recent years stepped up high-level exchanges.
Erdogan has made multiple visits to the kingdom, where he has held talks with Mohammed bin Salman on economic, energy and defense cooperation. Riyadh and Islamabad likewise maintain a longstanding strategic partnership, with Pakistani and Saudi leaders holding regular consultations on bilateral and regional matters.
