Ceasefire must be implemented

The Turkish president posted the statement on his social media account, welcoming the truce and setting out Ankara's conditions for its success.

"We welcome the ceasefire declared last night in the war that has turned our region into a battleground since Feb. 28. We wish for the ceasefire to be fully implemented on the ground without giving opportunity to possible provocations and sabotage," he stated.

Erdogan congratulated all actors who contributed to reaching the ceasefire, singling out Pakistan.

"We wholeheartedly congratulate all actors who contributed to the process leading to the ceasefire declaration, especially our friendly and brotherly Pakistan," he noted.

Erdogan also expressed Türkiye's broader aspiration for the region, saying, "It is our sincere wish that our geography, which has suffered greatly from wars, conflicts, tensions and oppression, achieves peace, tranquility and stability as soon as possible."

"Türkiye will continue to raise its voice for peace in its region and in the world," he concluded.

Fidan speaks with Iran's Araghchi

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke by telephone with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, conveying Türkiye's satisfaction with the temporary ceasefire and reaffirming Ankara's intention to continue its efforts toward a permanent peace, according to Foreign Ministry sources.

Türkiye to strengthen role as 'safe harbor' after war

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz also welcomed the ceasefire in a social media post, calling it "a positive step taken after a conflict process that has lasted approximately 40 days in our region and has affected the entire world in terms of its consequences."

"We find this development extremely important for regional and global stability," Yilmaz said on X.

He urged all parties to avoid escalatory positions during the ceasefire period and manage the process with common sense.

Yilmaz also congratulated Pakistan for the responsibility it took on and the efforts it showed in reaching the ceasefire.

"As Türkiye, we will resolutely continue the multidimensional peace diplomacy that our President steadfastly pursues for regional and global peace. As a stable country, we will continue to strengthen our status as a 'safe harbor' in the post-war period as well," he said.

Türkiye, Pakistan, and Egypt played active roles in facilitating the exchange of messages between the U.S. and Iran throughout the process.

The Israeli government, which announced support for the temporary ceasefire, has continued its attacks on Lebanon, asserting that Lebanon is not covered by the agreement.
