European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas will visit Türkiye on June 29-30 with two European Commission members for talks on EU-Türkiye relations, shared challenges and possible areas of cooperation, the European External Action Service (EEAS) said.
Kallas, the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, will be joined by Marta Kos, the European commissioner for enlargement, and Magnus Brunner, the commissioner for internal affairs and migration.
The EU officials are expected to meet Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during the visit, according to the EEAS statement.
The visit will take place ahead of the NATO Ankara summit, scheduled for July 7-8.
The EEAS said the trip would provide an opportunity to review EU-Türkiye relations in the context of Türkiye's status as a candidate country and NATO ally.
It said the visit would also allow the sides to discuss common challenges in an increasingly unstable geopolitical environment and seek new paths for cooperation.
The June 29-30 trip will be Kallas' second official visit to Türkiye.
The visit will include Kallas, Kos and Brunner, reflecting EU-level talks on foreign policy, enlargement, internal affairs and migration.
The EEAS statement said the three EU officials would hold talks with Fidan as part of the program.
