A ferryboat operating on the Harem–Sirkeci route collided with another vessel moored at Istanbul’s Sirkeci Pier on Monday before crashing into the pier itself.

The ferry, traveling from Harem to Sirkeci across the Bosphorus, first struck a stationary ferry docked at the pier, then rammed into the dock and came to a halt, according to initial reports.

Police, firefighters, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Rescue operations to free the ferry from the pier were ongoing.

Footage recorded by a passenger on board captured the moment of the crash.

Teams rescued the steamboat that had collided with the pier and anchored it. The pier was damaged in the accident, but no injuries were reported.
