Wildfires have erupted in several forested areas of Antalya, prompting an immediate response from emergency teams across air and land units. The fires, which broke out for yet-unknown reasons, are affecting the districts of Aksu, Muratpasa, and Manavgat in the southern coastal region of Türkiye.
In Aksu’s Kursunlu neighbourhood, Muratpasa’s Guzeloba area, and Guzelyali in Manavgat, flames quickly spread through dry woodland. The fires approached residential zones in Aksu and Muratpasa, where local police broadcast evacuation warnings over loudspeakers to ensure the safety of residents.
Authorities have not released details on damage or casualties.
Türkiye’s General Directorate of Forestry coordinated a major firefighting operation. Eight helicopters were deployed alongside 32 fire trucks (known locally as “arazoz”) and two bulldozers.
A total of 186 forestry personnel joined the effort, supported by water cannon trucks—referred to as “TOMA”—from the Provincial Police Department.
Firefighting teams are working around the clock to bring the blazes under control. Airborne crews are making water drops while land units clear firebreaks and monitor hotspots.
Local authorities continue to assess the situation, and operations are expected to continue until all fires are fully contained.
