France’s Defense Ministry has recognized Türkiye’s significant progress in global defense exports, highlighting the country’s growing influence in the arms industry.

In its 2025 arms export report submitted to the French Parliament, the ministry said that the competitive landscape of the global weapons market has shifted notably in recent years.

Türkiye among emerging defense exporters

The report noted that alongside leading exporters such as the United States, Russia, and Germany, emerging players like China, South Korea, and Türkiye have become increasingly prominent in the global defense sector.

According to the report, Türkiye has made “one of the most remarkable advances among the top 10 global exporters over the past decade,” driven by sustained investment in its defense industry.

Record increase in UAV exports

The ministry’s report stated that Türkiye achieved an 80% increase in defense exports in 2024 compared to 2023, reaching a new record level.

It attributed much of this growth to a large number of contracts involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), emphasizing Türkiye’s expanding footprint in this area.
