French judicial authorities had issued a "diffusion notice," an international law enforcement alert, against the suspect, identified by initials S.K., 35, on charges including international drug trafficking, possession and transportation of narcotics, and facilitating the concealment and conversion of proceeds from the drug trade to launder money.

MIT identified the suspect's location in Istanbul and notified the Istanbul Police Department's narcotics and intelligence branches.

A subsequent joint MIT-police operation located the suspect's hiding place in Kagithane and apprehended S.K.

S.K. was taken to Istanbul Police Headquarters for questioning. Formal processing procedures are ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the suspect is expected to be extradited to France.
