Heavy rain battering the Cide district of Kastamonu has swollen the Sehriban Creek, turning a quiet waterway into a rushing torrent that has put nearby areas on alert.
The downpour, which began around 4:00 a.m. local time, has continued intermittently throughout the day, showing no clear signs of letting up.
Roughly 15 kilometers from the district center, the Sehriban Creek has surged well beyond its usual flow, driven by the relentless rainfall upstream.
Drone footage captured the creek's mouth, where it empties into the Black Sea, revealing a stretch of coastline now at risk of flooding.
The rain has stained the sea a murky brown along the shoreline, as sediment and runoff pour directly into the water from the swollen creek.
Along the banks of the Sehriban Creek, between the districts of Senpazar and Cide, heavy machinery worked to clear standing water that had pooled inside the Asarkaya Tunnel.
