Authorities launched a search operation Saturday after a report that an aircraft had crashed in Giresun province in northeastern Türkiye’s Black Sea region, the Giresun Governor’s Office said.
The reported crash occurred near Deregozu village in Piraziz district.
A helicopter carrying out work on high-voltage power lines had reportedly crashed in the area, but officials said no findings or traces had been discovered so far.
The cause of the reported crash was not immediately known, and there was no immediate information on how many people may have been on board.
According to the Giresun Governor’s Office, authorities received a report at around 1 p.m. local time that a vehicle assessed to be an aircraft had crashed near Deregozu village.
Teams were dispatched to the area after the report was received to confirm the incident and carry out the necessary checks.
“The incident is being followed by our health, gendarmerie, police, AFAD and fire brigade teams,” the governor’s office said.
“No findings or traces have been found in the work carried out so far. Search and scan efforts to confirm the report are continuing, and developments will be shared with the public,” it added.
