An Indian tourist, allegedly named Malik Swashbuckler, who is reportedly popular on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, has caused outrage in Türkiye after videos appeared on his channels containing sexually explicit and offensive comments about Turkish women.
In one of the videos, the tourist reportedly makes a sexual remark about a Turkish woman in Hindi and asks his viewers if he should rape her that night. Although the content was in Hindi and not immediately understood by many local viewers, Turkish social media users flagged the videos, leading to public backlash.
Turkish police reportedly detained Malik Swashbuckler following reports and complaints about the videos. It is claimed that he used Hindi deliberately to avoid detection while in Türkiye.
Authorities have not officially confirmed the detainee’s identity or released further details about the investigation. The case has reignited discussions in Türkiye regarding the accountability of foreign content creators and the responsibility of social media platforms in preventing offensive material.
