Taksim metro station and funicular line will be temporarily closed on Nov. 25 following a decision by the Istanbul Governorate, the city's metro operator announced on Tuesday.
According to a statement from Metro Istanbul, the Taksim station on the M2 Yenikapi–Haciosman metro line, as well as the Taksim–Kabatas funicular line (F1), would be closed to passengers as of 3 p.m. local time (GMT+3).
The operator stated that "until further notice," trains will bypass the Taksim station without stopping. Additionally, the Istiklal Street exit of the nearby Sishane station has also been closed to passengers.
Commuters are advised to use alternative station entrances and exits during the closure.
In a separate development, Istanbul Sea Buses (IDO) and Sehir Hatlari, the city’s two primary ferry operators, announced widespread cancellations, particularly affecting early-morning services.
According to official social media announcements, the following Sehir Hatlari ferry routes were cancelled due to inclement weather:
IDO reported that all services between Yalova and Pendik from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. were cancelled, in addition to the 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. sailings. The suspension will remain in place until further notice.
