Istanbul is set to experience a week of rising temperatures as heat waves originating from both Africa and the Gulf region move over the city, according to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM).

In its weekly weather forecast, shared via the agency's account on the social media platform X, AKOM said nearly all of Türkiye, with Istanbul particularly affected, will come under the influence of the two heat systems. The report forecasts mostly sunny skies through the week, with temperatures climbing from current levels into the 33 to 36 degrees Celsius (91.4 to 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit) range.
