Kazakhstan's top diplomatic officials hosted Turkish media representatives in Istanbul this week, highlighting the strengthening ties between the two nations and showcasing Kazakhstan's domestic developments.

Ambassador Yerkebulan Sapiyev and Istanbul Consul General Nuriddin Amankul organized the "Traditional Friendship Meeting with Türkiye's Press Members" at a Bakirkoy hotel, bringing together representatives from major Turkish media outlets.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Sapiyev emphasized Kazakhstan's significance as an ancestral homeland for all Turkic peoples.

He outlined several key domestic policies, including an annual payment system funded by oil revenues that provides payments to every child under 18 years old.

"Approximately 117 nations live together in peace with equal rights," Sapiyev said, describing Kazakhstan's diverse population.

He also highlighted the country's digital governance system that allows citizens to submit complaints directly to the state through electronic platforms.

Economic transformation draws praise from Kazakhstan

Reflecting on Türkiye's economic progress since his first visit in 1992, Sapiyev praised the dramatic changes he has witnessed.

"Especially in the last 20-25 years, the great progress we have witnessed and seen in daily life, which we are proud of, we see as a great success," he said.

The ambassador expressed Kazakhstan's desire to learn from Türkiye's proven experiences while implementing similar approaches in his own country.

"As a brotherly country, we both want to benefit from Türkiye's beautiful, effective and proven experiences, and we are implementing them in Kazakhstan," Sapiyev noted.

Turkish investment reaches $5.6 billion

Currently, over 4,000 Turkish-funded companies operate in Kazakhstan, with total investments reaching $5.6 billion, according to Sapiyev. He thanked Turkish businessmen for their contributions to Kazakhstan's economy.

The ambassador also highlighted Kazakhstan's natural resources, including oil, gas, uranium, and rare metals.

He announced that construction of the country's first nuclear power plant began this year, with plans for two additional nuclear facilities.

Annual tradition marks shared historical moments

Consul General Amankul explained that the annual August meeting coincides with significant dates for both nations: Aug. 30 marks Constitution Day in Kazakhstan and Victory Day in Türkiye.

"Relations between our two brotherly countries are developing at a very high level," Amankul said.

"When Kazakhstan declared its independence on Dec. 16, 1991, Türkiye was the first country in the world to recognize this independence."

He referred to President Tokayev’s July visit, where he met President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During the visit, the two leaders agreed on cooperation in different fields.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Ihlas Media Group. Participants included TGRT General Manager Sait Eken, Ihlas News Agency General Publication Coordinator Irfan Altikardes, Ihlas Media Advertising Group President Tuba Gencay, Digital Assets General Manager Volkan Ormanli, Türkiye Business World Magazine Editor-in-Chief Celal Toprak and Türkiye daily Digital and Türkiye Today Editor-in-Chief Osman Bahattin Dirlik.
