Gursel Tekin, appointed as the trustee of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Organization, claimed in an interview with Sabah newspaper that sleeper cells of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) have infiltrated the CHP.
Tekin said the group operates under the principle “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” first using the CHP against the government and later attempting to destroy the party from within.
“The current leadership refuses to see the bigger picture and global developments. This is the tactic of this organization: using one enemy to eliminate another,” he said.
Commenting on recent court cases targeting CHP-run municipalities, Tekin highlighted the party’s integrity under former leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
“No corruption cases were opened during Kilicdaroglu’s tenure because honesty prevailed in the administration. Now it seems as if no problems exist in the country except court corridors,” he said.
“Let the judiciary do its work. I am not saying anyone is guilty or innocent, but we must respect the process.”
The Istanbul 45th Civil Court annulled CHP’s Oct. 8, 2023, Istanbul Congress, removing Ozgur Celik and his team, and appointed Tekin, along with four others, as trustees.
Tekin entered the Istanbul office with police support, while the former CHP administration closed the building, designating it for the office of party chair Ozgur Ozel.
