Parliament speakers attending the NATO Parliamentary Summit in Istanbul paid a field visit on Tuesday to Baykar's Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center, hosted by Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, ahead of next week's NATO summit in Ankara.
Following the parliamentary summit held at Istanbul's Dolmabahce Palace, Kurtulmus, together with parliament speakers from allied countries and senior parliamentary representatives, traveled to Baykar Technology's Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center.
During the field visit, guided by Baykar Chairman Selcuk Bayraktar, the delegation was briefed on the company's activities, its work in defense technologies, and its innovative projects.
Baykar said in a statement: "We were honored to host the GNAT delegation led by Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation led by Mr. Marcos Perestrello de Vasconcellos at the Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center. We extend our sincere thanks to them for their kind visit."
During the visit, Kurtulmus met with Canan Bayraktar, the widow of the late Ozdemir Bayraktar, a pioneer of Türkiye's National Technology Initiative and indigenous combat drones, and the mother of Selcuk Bayraktar.
The visit comes ahead of the July 7-8 NATO summit in Ankara, which will feature, for the first time, a defense industry forum as part of the alliance's official program.
