Mother's statement brings out antidepressant detail

A new development came out after the program "Cansu Canan ile Yeni Sayfa" (New Page with Cansu Canan) broadcast on Show TV, which obtained the statement given by Irtem's mother, Nuriye Irtem, to the police.

According to the statement, Nuriye Irtem said she and her daughter went to a birthday celebration at a venue on the same street as their home at 5:51 p.m. She said they cut a cake, spent time together and returned home at 8:36 p.m.

The mother said she put her daughter to bed after she took her antidepressant medication, as she had also been drinking alcohol. She added that she heard her daughter get up to use the bathroom during the night before going back to bed.

In her statement, Nuriye Irtem said she later called her daughter for breakfast but received no answer.

"When I entered her room, I saw a bad fluid coming from her mouth. She drank a lot of alcohol and was also using strong antidepressant medication," she said.

Irtem's funeral is expected to take place in Izmir, her hometown, where she will be laid to rest following a ceremony.
