Turkish defense contractor Roketsan is preparing to test its new Tayfun Block 4 ballistic missile system while expanding its drone munitions portfolio, company CEO Murat Ikinci announced during the TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition organized under Roketsan's leadership.

Speaking to Turkish defense outlet SavunmaSanayiST, Ikinci emphasized Roketsan's position as a significant research and development powerhouse in the Turkish defense industry.

"Roketsan continues its work. We are continuing many projects and R&D studies. Roketsan is Türkiye's third-largest R&D institution," Ikinci said.

"When we look at it from that perspective, we have many projects. We want to continue widening the gap, especially by maintaining our leadership in UAVs and our diversity in UAV munitions. We are making very serious investments there," he noted.

Tayfun Block 4 ballistic missile system

The company's ballistic missile development program centers on the Tayfun Block 4 project, which Ikinci described as a milestone achievement for Türkiye's defense capabilities.

"Tayfun Block 4 is currently a very important project that shows the point Türkiye has reached in terms of ballistic missiles," Ikinci stated.

"We will share the good news about Tayfun Block 4 with you soon, hopefully, the news about its test launch," he noted.

Ikinci later highlighted the company's youthful and experienced engineering workforce as a key competitive advantage in achieving ambitious defense technology goals.

"But most importantly, Roketsan has a young team with an average age of 32-33 years. We have both a very talented, very skilled, truly field-experienced new generation of engineering staff coming from below and an institution with very serious goals ahead," he said, adding, "And it's an institution that can successfully deliver these products to the field."

Expanding UAV munitions portfolio

Recent successful tests demonstrate Roketsan's expanding capabilities in drone warfare systems, according to statements by Ikinci about the company's UAV munitions development.

"Our supersonic missiles that we recently launched from TB3, our munitions that we launched from TB2, along with our 230 munitions that we successfully tested with Akinci, will continue to be crowned with the 300 ER," Ikinci explained.

"We will also rapidly develop the air-to-ground ballistic missile family. I believe this will make a significant contribution to the striking power of our UAVs," he concluded.
