Murat Ikinci, the general manager of Turkish defense firm Roketsan, confirmed that both the testing and serial production of the Tayfun ballistic missile are still ongoing.
Speaking at Teknofest, the world’s largest aerospace, space, and technology festival, Ikinci emphasized that Tayfun is one of the most important striking forces in its class and is expected to make a significant contribution to the Turkish Armed Forces' capabilities.
"Tayfun's tests are continuing, and its serial production is also progressing. Tayfun is one of the most important strike forces in its class. We evaluate that it will significantly contribute to the strength of our Armed Forces in this field," Ikinci said.
Ikinci also noted the high interest in Teknofest in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
He emphasized the importance of the TRNC as a "brotherly homeland" and praised the dedication of Turkish citizens in the region. "The interest of our fellow citizens in Teknofest is truly commendable. The area remains crowded, and the crowd continues into the late hours of the night. This is the best indication that the Turkish Cypriots have embraced Teknofest," Ikinci stated.
Ikinci highlighted the increasing interest of young people in rocket and aerospace technology, especially through the Teknofest Rocket Competitions. "We are trying to increase the interest of our youth in rocket technologies, control technologies, space, and aviation. Year by year, the number of participants continues to grow," he said.
He also noted the success of Turkish youth in international rocket competitions. "Last year, our students, trained in our competitions, returned from the competitions in the U.S. with first-place awards. This shows the new generation's keen interest in rocket technology," Ikinci added.
He expressed optimism about future technological advancements, saying that with the support of this new generation, Türkiye is poised for significant breakthroughs in the coming years.
Focusing on the Tayfun ballistic missile, Ikinci shared more details about its development. "Tayfun is actually developed as a product family with different features in blocks. Currently, serial production is continuing for the Turkish Armed Forces, and engineering studies are ongoing to add new blocks and features to Tayfun," he explained.
"Tayfun is one of the most important strike forces in its class, and we believe it will significantly strengthen the Turkish Armed Forces in this area," Ikinci continued.
Looking ahead, Ikinci hinted at future developments. He mentioned that Roketsan plans to showcase new surprises at IDEF, the International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul. "We will have the opportunity to showcase Roketsan's new technologies, new ammunition, and new systems to many guests coming from around the world," he concluded.
