Istanbul police raided a popular entertainment venue in Besiktas's Bebek neighborhood frequented by celebrities as part of an ongoing drug and prostitution investigation, detaining the establishment's owner.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a search warrant for the venue as part of the investigation. Narcotic Crimes Unit officers conducted the search with approximately 100 police and five K-9 narcotic detection dogs.
Police conducted identity checks and body searches on individuals present at the establishment, preparing official records before leaving the premises.
Entry and exit from the venue were temporarily prohibited during the operation.
The owner of ClubHouse Bebek, businessman and actor M.U., was detained following the operation, according to information obtained.
No drugs or other criminal evidence were found during the search of the venue, authorities reported.
ClubHouse Bebek operates as a membership-based social facility that includes a sports center and restaurant. The sports facility section also hosts film screenings and theater performances.
The establishment is popular among celebrities in Istanbul.
