Swimming has been banned for two days along parts of Istanbul's Black Sea coast in the districts of Sariyer and Beykoz because of forecasts for high waves, local authorities announced Monday.
The restrictions will remain in place on Monday and Tuesday following the latest meteorological assessments indicating that wave heights are expected to rise.
The Sariyer District Governor's Office said swimming would not be allowed at Kisirkaya Public Beach during the two days.
In neighboring Beykoz, the District Governor's Office introduced a broader ban covering beaches, coastal areas and coves along the district's Black Sea shoreline.
Authorities said the decision was taken because high wave conditions were expected in the area.
The Beykoz authorities said the restriction was introduced under Türkiye's Provincial Administration Law No. 5442, which empowers local administrative authorities to take precautionary measures within their jurisdictions.
Swimming at the affected coastal locations will therefore remain prohibited through Tuesday.
