A tragic incident unfolded in Gaziantep’s Sehitkamil district when a father reportedly poured gasoline on his daughter and set her on fire as she attempted to commit suicide on Thursday. The event left four family members injured, two of them in critical condition.
According to reports, 20-year-old Y.G. brought gasoline with the intention of ending her life. Upon discovering this, her father, C.G., 52, confronted her, leading to a heated argument. During the dispute, the father allegedly said, “That’s not how you commit suicide,” and poured gasoline on his daughter.
The mother and another sister tried to intervene, but gasoline splashed onto them as well. When C.G. ignited a lighter, the gasoline caught fire, engulfing the family members in flames.
Emergency responders arrived quickly after witnesses alerted the 112 Emergency Health Services. Firefighters extinguished the blaze while medical teams provided immediate treatment. The four injured were transported to the hospital, with two in serious condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
