A civilian training helicopter operated by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) crashed into a field in Ankara on Tuesday, injuring two people, authorities said.
The Robinson R44 helicopter crashed at 10:02 a.m. local time (7:02 a.m. GMT) in the Temelli neighborhood of Ankara's Sincan district, with the cause of the accident still unknown, according to the Ankara Governor's Office.
Residents alerted emergency services, prompting the dispatch of multiple fire, medical and police teams to the scene.
The two occupants were injured in the crash and received medical attention. Authorities have not immediately released details on their identities or the severity of their injuries.
Officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. The helicopter came to rest in an agricultural field, where emergency crews secured the area and began examining the wreckage.
The Robinson R44 is a lightweight, four-seat civilian helicopter. Introduced in the early 1990s, it is widely used around the world for pilot training, private transportation, aerial surveying, and law enforcement because of its relatively low operating costs and simple design.
