Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Pakistan's top military commander have held separate conversations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as diplomatic activity around Iran's ongoing nuclear negotiations intensifies and concerns mount over a possible U.S. strike on the country.
Fidan said he spoke by phone with Araghchi to review the latest status of the ongoing negotiation process. In a post on X, the Turkish foreign minister said Türkiye "will continue to strive for the end of conflicts in our region and the establishment of lasting peace."
Separately, Pakistani Chief of General Staff General Asim Munir also spoke with Araghchi by phone.
According to a statement from the Iranian foreign minister's official social media account, the two discussed regional matters as well as the possible consequences of what they described as "the U.S.'s aggressive and destabilizing initiatives" and the risk of further escalation of tensions in the region.
During the call with Munir, Araghchi stated that Iran is prepared to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that it will respond to any act of aggression.
