Team leader: 'Egypt show is very special for us'

Turkish Stars Team Leader Lt. Col. Hasan Kocabas told Türkiye's state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) that the team continues to fly the Turkish flag and represent Türkiye across different parts of the world, showcasing the strength, discipline and professionalism of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF).

"The Egypt show is very special for us, because as Turkish Stars, we performed our first display on the African continent in Egypt, over the Giza Pyramids, on Sept. 7. Along with that, we carried out displays on three different continents within 10 days: in Romania on Aug. 29, in our own country on Victory Day on Aug. 30, and our shows beginning in Egypt on Sept. 7 are continuing. We continue to represent our country in the best way possible and to fly our flag in the sky across different geographies," Kocabas said.

'We carved Turkish seal into Egypt's skies'

Maj. Sami Yalcin, who flies as the No. 5 solo pilot for Turkish Stars, said the team continues to represent the Turkish state, nation, armed forces and Air Force Command wherever it flies.

"We are especially happy to be in Egypt. We flew our flag over the Egyptian pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and still standing today. We carved the Turkish seal into Egypt's skies. We are excited and proud of this," Yalcin said.

1st Lt. Cihat Karadutlu, who flies as the No. 3 inner wing pilot for the team, said: "We brought together one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World with Turkish Stars, a wonder of the modern world, in Egypt."

Following its Sept. 7 display over the pyramids, the Turkish Stars performed additional maneuvers over the airshow grounds throughout the three-day event, with the performances drawing interest from Egyptian visitors attending the fair.

Türkiye's Ministry of National Defense (MoND) also shared footage of the display on X, describing the flight as a demonstration of "our courage in the sky" over one of the world's most magnificent historical heritage sites, and saying the team "left the mark of the crescent and star" in skies steeped in thousands of years of history.
