Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu publicly acknowledged exceeding the speed limit while driving on the Ankara-Nigde Motorway, confirming that the gendarmerie issued a fine.
Uraloglu shared a video on his social media account showing himself driving on the highway. In a subsequent post, he admitted that he unintentionally exceeded the speed limit for a short period.
“I took the wheel to see the current condition of the Ankara-Nigde Motorway. During this time, I exceeded the speed limit without realizing it. With this video, I have self-reported."
"Respecting speed limits is mandatory for everyone. The highway gendarmerie has applied the necessary penalty. I will act with much greater caution going forward,” the minister wrote on social media.
The minister also posted an image of the official traffic fine issued against him.
In one video, Uraloglu referred to the motorway drive as a “memory on the Ankara-Nigde Motorway with folk songs,” noting that the vehicle reached speeds of 225 kilometers/hour.
He reiterated that he accepts the penalty and emphasized the importance of obeying traffic regulations.
