Türkiye and Armenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday on the joint restoration of the ancient Ani Bridge, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz announced following talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the eighth European Political Community summit in Yerevan.
"We believe that symbolic and concrete areas of cooperation, such as the joint restoration of the Ani Bridge, which we signed today with a memorandum of understanding, will also contribute to an environment of lasting peace and trust," Yilmaz said on X.
Yilmaz, representing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the summit, described the talks with Pashinyan as "comprehensive and productive," covering bilateral relations, transportation, customs, energy, digital infrastructure and connectivity.
He expressed satisfaction that "mutually constructive steps taken in the normalization process are producing concrete progress."
"We will resolutely continue our approach toward advancing normalization in the South Caucasus, increasing economic cooperation and strengthening people-to-people contacts based on regional peace, dialogue, and stability," Yilmaz said, thanking Pashinyan for his hospitality.
On the sidelines of the summit, Yilmaz also met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.
The talks covered bilateral relations and cooperation across the economy, trade, tourism, investment, energy, science and technology, the defense industry, and counterterrorism.
"Türkiye attaches importance to enhancing cooperation with Norway in all areas," Yilmaz said.
Yilmaz separately met with Romanian President Nicusor Dan, covering bilateral relations, regional and global issues, and expanding bilateral trade.
"We are determined to advance Türkiye-Romania relations, rooted in deep historical and cultural ties, across a wide spectrum from security to trade, energy to connectivity, defense industry to education and culture," he said.
He also held a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu, expressing hope that the organization "will continue to contribute effectively to peace, stability and prosperity across the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian regions."
The eighth European Political Community summit was held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan.
Among the over 40 leaders attending were Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Yilmaz participated in the opening ceremony and inaugural session and joined the leaders' family photo.
