Authorities detained 156 suspects in operations targeting the Gulenist Terror Organization (FETO) across 30 provinces over the past two weeks, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Monday.

Yerlikaya shared details of the extensive operations on social media, stating that police and military forces carried out operations in cities including Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, alongside several other regions.

These operations, conducted in coordination with the Turkish General Directorate of Gendarmerie and public prosecutors, led to the arrest of 156 individuals suspected of involvement with FETO, a terrorist group that is behind the 2016 coup attempt.

Legal actions and continuing investigations

According to the Interior Minister, 65 of the detained suspects have been arrested, while 34 others are under judicial control. Investigations are ongoing for the remaining individuals.

"The suspects were wanted for engaging in activities within FETO's 'current structure,' making contact with senior members of the organization via payphones, funding the terrorist group, and propagating the group's agenda through social media platforms," Yerlikaya explained.

The operations spanned across multiple provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Amasya, Artvin, Aydin, Balikesir, Batman, Bursa, Diyarbakir, Edirne, Elazig, Erzurum, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Giresun, Hatay, and several others.

During the operations, authorities seized a substantial amount of organizational documents and digital materials linked to a terrorist organization.

Yerlikaya notes government's commitment to national security

Minister Yerlikaya thanked the provincial governors, prosecutors, gendarmerie commanders, and law enforcement personnel involved in the operations, reiterating the government's ongoing commitment to fighting terrorism.

"We will continue our relentless struggle against those who aim to undermine our nation's unity, the integrity of our state, and the peace and welfare of our citizens," he concluded.
