Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel’s Gaza policies in response to a U.N.-backed report on food insecurity, warning that the crisis stems from what it called the Netanyahu government’s “genocidal” actions against Palestinians.
The ministry addressed the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, backed by the United Nations, and statements by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres regarding Gaza’s worsening famine.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the documents underscore the scale of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, citing policies by the Israeli government as a primary cause.
“The IPC report and the Secretary-General’s remarks highlight the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the genocidal policies imposed on Palestinians by the Netanyahu government in Gaza,” the statement read.
The ministry added that Israel’s actions have been emboldened by the lack of accountability for past alleged war crimes and violations of international law.
Key Gaza figures:
Indicator | Number / % | Notes |
---|---|---|
Hunger-related deaths | 281 | Includes 114 children |
Population of Gaza | 2,300,000 | Approximate total population |
People displaced | 2,000,000 | Many displaced multiple times |
Famine severity | Level 5 | Highest level per IPC, UN-supported |
Destroyed infrastructure | 88% | Percentage of Gaza damaged by attacks |
Türkiye emphasized the need for a lasting ceasefire, judicial accountability, and uninterrupted humanitarian corridors, calling these obligations fundamental to both international law and human rights.
“Türkiye will continue to support the just struggle of the Palestinian people without compromise,” the statement concluded.
