Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the missile attack carried out by India on Pakistan on Tuesday evening, highlighting the potential risk of a full-scale war. The ministry emphasized the provocation of such actions, particularly those targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The ministry’s statement, following the recent developments between Pakistan and India, expressed deep concern about the escalating tensions. Türkiye urged both parties to act with caution and avoid unilateral actions that could exacerbate the situation.
The statement read, "The attack by India last night (May 6) raises the risk of all-out war. We condemn such provocative steps and attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. We urge all sides to exercise common sense and refrain from unilateral actions."
The statement also reiterated Türkiye’s support for Pakistan’s call to investigate the terrorist attack that took place on April 22, 2025, in the Pahalgam region of Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, stating, "We support Pakistan's call for an investigation into the April 22 terrorist attack."
Türkiye expressed its strong support for transparency and accountability in addressing such incidents.
In its conclusion, the Ministry urged both countries to take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions in the region. It further called for the establishment of necessary mechanisms, including in the field of counter-terrorism, to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope for the creation of mechanisms to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents, emphasizing the importance of regional peace and stability.
"We hope that the necessary measures will be taken to reduce tensions in the region as soon as possible and that the necessary mechanisms, including in the field of counter-terrorism, will be put in place to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents," the Turkish Foreign Ministry statement concluded.
