Turkish Ministry of National Defense sources stated Thursday that it is taking necessary countermeasures against activities that ignore the Turkish Republic of Turkish Cyprus's (TRNC) existing license areas and rights across the entire island, while closely monitoring the SDF integration into Syria's transitional government.

Ministry sources, responding to questions about the Norwegian-flagged vessel Ramform Hyperion conducting operations south of Cyprus under a navigational telex (Navtex) issued by the Greek Cypriot administration, emphasized that both communities have equal rights in the island's maritime jurisdiction areas.

"We are taking necessary countermeasures against activities attempted while ignoring the TRNC's existing license areas in the region and its rights across the entire island," ministry sources stated.

"The necessary protests have been made by the TRNC and our Foreign Ministry against the vessel's activities, and in the field, the vessel was interrogated and warned, putting on record that TRNC rights exist in the region," the sources added.

Syria's situation under close watch

Regarding developments in Syria, ministry sources confirmed: "Issues related to the integration of the SDF terrorist organization into the Syrian Transitional Government are being carefully monitored by our ministry."

"In this context, it would be appropriate to consider our ministry's official statements on these matters," the Defense Ministry sources noted.

The sources noted that during meetings with the Iranian Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Minister Brig. Gen. Aziz Nasirzade, on Wednesday, discussed possibilities for cooperation, particularly regarding counterterrorism and irregular migration in the context of border security.

Border security operations intensify

Defense Ministry's Press and Public Relations Advisor Rear Adm. Zeki Akturk, speaking at the weekly press briefing in Turkish Cyprus, reported that 188 individuals, including five members of terrorist organizations, were apprehended at borders in the past week.

"Since January 1, the number of those caught trying to cross illegally has reached 7,177," Akturk stated, adding that 51,876 people have been prevented from crossing this year.

In Van province's border area, approximately 118 kilograms of narcotics were seized during search operations this week.

The Turkish Armed Forces continue operations against terrorist organizations, with tunnel destruction in Tel Rifat and Manbij operational areas in Syria reaching 642 kilometers in length.
