Türkiye extends condolences to Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah fatalities

Türkiye conveyed condolences to Sri Lanka after floods and landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah resulted in multiple fatalities, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

In its written announcement, the ministry stated that it was deeply saddened by the deaths reported across the affected regions.

Ankara addresses impact of floods and landslides

The ministry noted that the disaster was triggered by Cyclone Ditwah, which brought severe rainfall, leading to widespread flooding and landslides.

It emphasized that the resulting loss of life had caused great sorrow in Türkiye.

Condolences extended to families and the Sri Lankan public

In the statement, Ankara expressed sympathy to those who lost loved ones in the disaster.

Türkiye extended its condolences to the families of the victims and conveyed solidarity to the people of Sri Lanka during this period of tragedy.

The Foreign Ministry said the message of condolence reflects Türkiye’s sense of sorrow over the humanitarian impact of the cyclone, repeating its condolences to all those affected by the floods and landslides.
