Türkiye has issued a specially designed ₺5 commemorative coin to mark the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit in Ankara, with the first 100,000 coins already minted and an additional 400,000 planned for release into circulation.
The coin was produced by the Turkish mint under instructions from the Presidency. It will enter the market alongside regular ₺5 coins, making it both a payment tool and a limited-edition keepsake linked to the summit.
One side of the commemorative coin carries NATO's name and emblem, directly connecting the design to the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit.
The other side includes elements related to Ankara, the host city, and the Presidential Complex, reflecting the setting where the summit took place.
Authorities said the commemorative coins are not only a means of payment but also special items with collector value.
The limited production gives the series a different status from the hundreds of millions of standard coins placed into circulation by the mint each year.
With its limited design and summit-related imagery, the coin is expected to stand out for citizens and collectors while remaining part of regular monetary circulation.
