Türkiye's state-run aerospace firm Military Factory and Shipyard Management Inc. (ASFAT) and Italian aerospace company Magnaghi signed a joint venture agreement Friday at Teknofest to establish a maintenance, repair and overhaul center for military and civilian aircraft landing gear systems, with initial operations focusing on ATAK helicopters.

The agreement was signed by ASFAT CEO Mustafa Ilbas and Magnaghi Aerospace Chairman and CEO Paolo Graziano during Türkiye's premier technology and aviation festival in Istanbul, with Defense Minister Yasar Guler and senior military officials in attendance.

New center to service Turkish Armed Forces fleet

The Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Center will primarily service landing gear systems for aircraft in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory, with T129 ATAK attack helicopters scheduled as the facility's first maintenance project.

ASFAT, a subsidiary of Türkiye's Ministry of National Defense, aims to expand the center's capabilities to serve both military and civilian platforms while positioning Türkiye as a regional hub for aviation maintenance exports.

"The center will service landing gear systems for Turkish Armed Forces platforms," according to the joint venture announcement at Teknofest, which runs through Sunday as the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival.
