Türkiye's Interior and Justice ministries said an operation targeting 968 suspects linked to the FETO was launched on Monday across all 81 provinces.

Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci and Justice Minister Akin Gurlek published a joint statement simultaneously on their social media accounts.

The statement, issued as Türkiye marked the anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, honored those killed defending the country, its flag, democracy and national will, and paid tribute to veterans of that resistance.

The statement said the fight against FETO, which it described as having been defeated by the nation's resistance during the coup attempt, had continued with the same determination in the years since.

"Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, our state has carried out a major cleansing effort across all its institutions since July 15, mounting an uncompromising fight against this network of treason that has targeted the will of our nation, the survival of our state and our legal order," the statement said.

968 suspects targeted, most in Ankara, Izmir and Istanbul

According to the statement, the operation followed joint work by chief public prosecutors' offices, police departments, and gendarmerie commands in all 81 provinces aimed at exposing FETO's structure.

The operation, launched Monday morning, targets 968 suspects nationwide, with Ankara, Izmir, and Istanbul recording the highest number of suspects.

The statement said that work continues in other provinces to target the organization's current structures, including what it described as its clandestine networks and affiliated elements.

The Justice and Interior ministries said police, gendarmerie forces, prosecutors' offices and other relevant institutions would continue the effort in close coordination under Erdogan's leadership.

"We will never allow any terrorist organization or center of tutelage to threaten the will of our esteemed nation, the survival of our state, or our legal order. Mindful of the historic responsibility placed on us by July 15, we will honor the legacy of our martyrs, the sacrifice of our veterans, and our nation's will for independence to the very end," the statement said.

Ciftci thanked Erdogan for his leadership in what he called the state's broad institutional effort against FETO, and thanked Gurlek for his role in coordinating the campaign.

"We will never allow any terrorist organization or center of tutelage to threaten the survival of our state, our legal order and the will of our esteemed nation. No force can stand in the way of our goal of a strong Türkiye as we proceed on this path with the vision of the Türkiye Century," Ciftci said.

Gurlek also thanked Erdogan and Ciftci for their support.

"We have not forgotten the treacherous July 15 coup attempt. I remember with mercy our martyrs who, 10 years ago, sacrificed their lives for our homeland, our flag, our democracy and our national will, and I remember our heroic veterans with gratitude. We will honor the legacy of our martyrs, the sacrifice of our veterans, and our nation's will for independence to the very end," Gurlek said.
