Türkiye will raise the transaction limit for its instant payment system to ₺300,000 ($6,239.76) from ₺100,000 starting Aug. 26, the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) announced Monday.
The new limit will apply to money transfers and payments made through the Payment Request Layer Service, while the ceiling for dynamic authenticated merchant payments made using FAST-TR QR codes will rise to ₺300,000 from ₺250,000.
The CBRT said the changes reflect growing interest in FAST and the changing needs of the payments ecosystem.
FAST, or the Instant and Continuous Transfer of Funds system, is Türkiye’s instant payment infrastructure, developed and operated by the central bank. It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing payments to be completed within seconds.
The system was launched for customers on Jan. 8, 2021, following a pilot phase. The CBRT initially set the transaction limit at ₺50 and increased it several times as usage grew.
The limit reached ₺5,000 in February 2022, ₺20,000 in February 2023 and ₺50,000 in December 2023 before rising to ₺100,000 in April 2024.
FAST also lets users send money without entering a traditional IBAN through services such as the Easy Addressing System, known as KOLAS.
KOLAS allows customers to use registered details such as a telephone number, identification number, email address, passport number or tax number to make the transfers.
FAST handled 5.4 billion payments worth ₺50.4 trillion in 2025, reflecting how widely instant transfers are now used across Türkiye’s payments system.
