Türkiye’s population surpasses 85.98 million as of October 2025

Türkiye’s population reached 85,980,654 as of Oct. 1, 2025, according to the latest quarterly population statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

The data highlight a continued, though moderate, increase in the country’s population over the first nine months of the year.

At the end of 2024, Türkiye’s population was recorded at 85,664,944.

Over the first nine months of 2025, the population increased by 315,710, reflecting steady growth. In particular, the period between July 1 and Oct. 1 saw an increase of 155,800 people, indicating a consistent demographic expansion.

Gender distribution

The new figures show a nearly balanced gender distribution across the country. The male population stands at 43,003,770, accounting for 50.02% of the total, while the female population is 42,976,884, representing 49.98%. This balance underscores the stability of demographic ratios in Türkiye despite ongoing population growth.

Population by age group

The latest data reveal notable trends in age distribution across Türkiye.

• 0–4 age group: The youngest generation continues to shrink. Children aged 0–4 account for 5.7% of the total population, with 2,507,001 boys and 2,381,336 girls.
• 5–9 age group: This group comprises 6,216,510 children.
• 10–14 age group: The population reaches 6,508,063.

Young population decline

• The 15–24 age group shows a decreasing trend. There are 6,421,068 people aged 15–19 and 6,291,973 aged 20–24.

Working-age population

• The 25–39 age group represents the core of Türkiye’s economically productive population.
