The National Security Council, known as MGK, emphasized that terrorism and violence have no place in the region's future as it reviewed ongoing operations against multiple terrorist organizations. The council discussed coordinated efforts both domestically and internationally targeting t error groups PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and Daesh , while addressing recent international developments affecting Türkiye's security interests.
The National Security Council serves as Türkiye's principal advisory body on matters of national security, bringing together top civilian and military leadership to assess threats and formulate policy recommendations. The council typically convenes monthly to evaluate security challenges facing the country.
The council expressed satisfaction with Syria's progress in overcoming challenges and contributing to regional stability, according to the statement. Türkiye pledged continued support for "the comfort, prosperity, well-being and security of all segments of the brotherly Syrian people."
The statement comes amid Syria's ongoing political transition following the collapse of the Assad regime, though the MGK declaration did not specify particular developments or timeframes.
Addressing the situation in Gaza, the council described the ceasefire—which Türkiye helped architect—as vital for stopping what it characterized as genocide in the region. However, the statement criticized Israeli leadership for ceasefire violations, saying "the Israeli administration violating the ceasefire must immediately stop its attacks and fulfill its obligations."
Türkiye expressed readiness to assume responsibility in mechanisms guaranteeing peace and stability in Gaza and to contribute to reconstruction efforts, according to the declaration.
The council assessed developments in multiple conflict zones beyond Türkiye's immediate borders. On Sudan, the statement called for international actors, particularly regional countries, to cooperate urgently to halt massacres of civilians and end the country's internal fighting while reaffirming support for Sudanese sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, the MGK emphasized the importance of diplomatic solutions in the face of developments indicating escalation risks. Türkiye committed to continuing efforts with international partners to establish lasting and just peace.
The council also noted positive recent developments in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, discussing bilateral and regional cooperation opportunities. The statement reaffirmed Türkiye's determination to establish peace and stability in the South Caucasus while promoting regional development.
