Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez touched down at Istanbul International Airport on Sunday for a working visit to Türkiye, continuing a broader international tour aimed at strengthening Venezuela's strategic and commercial ties abroad.

Rodriguez was received at the airport by Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, alongside Istanbul's deputy governor, Can Aksoy, and senior regional officials, signaling the high-level attention Ankara is giving to the visit.

Bayraktar confirmed on social media that Rodriguez arrived at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, framing the visit as part of the two governments' broader diplomatic engagement.

A tour focused on economic and strategic outreach

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil announced Rodriguez's arrival in Istanbul, while official state broadcaster VTV Canal 8 described the stop as part of an ongoing international agenda. Rodriguez's office characterized the wider tour as an effort to "strengthen strategic and commercial relations" between Venezuela and the world.

Türkiye has in recent years positioned itself as an active energy diplomacy player, pursuing partnerships across multiple regions, while Venezuela holds some of the world's largest proven oil reserves.

The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for decades, though the current visit suggests efforts to deepen cooperation across key sectors.
