A routine tip-off led to a striking discovery in Istanbul’s Catalca district, where authorities uncovered a large and unauthorized collection of exotic snakes kept inside a private residence.

During the operation, teams from the Directorate General of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP), working alongside law enforcement units, inspected the property and found a total of 42 snakes being held without the necessary permits.

Officials reported that the seized animals included 18 pythons, 21 corn snakes and 3 king snakes. All animals were confiscated and placed under protective care by wildlife authorities.

An administrative fine was issued to the individual responsible for the illegal possession of the reptiles.

Authorities stressed that the unlicensed keeping of wild animals poses significant risks to both public safety and animal welfare.
