Following the latest developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made new statements regarding the ongoing peace efforts.

In his recent remarks, Zelenskyy emphasized key points. "I will meet with President Erdogan in Ankara on Thursday. If Putin comes, I will fly to Istanbul," he stated.

Zelenskyy also mentioned that he invited former U.S. President Donald Trump to join the talks in Istanbul. "Trump has not yet confirmed his participation," he added.

The Ukrainian president highlighted the need for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a cease-fire, stating, "He is the only one with the power to implement this."

If the Istanbul meeting does not take place, Zelenskyy noted, "We expect the U.S. and EU to impose a strong sanctions package on Russia."

He further emphasized that such actions would demonstrate that "Russia is not ready for diplomacy."
