U.S. Central Command said U.S. naval forces have redirected 57 commercial vessels and disabled 4 others under a naval blockade aimed at preventing ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports.

CENTCOM shared the update on its X account, saying U.S. forces were continuing operations in the Middle East in support of the blockade against Iran.

“As of today, CENTCOM forces have redirected 57 commercial vessels and disabled 4 to prevent the ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports,” the command said.

U.S. destroyers operate in Arabian Sea

CENTCOM said the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason were operating in the Middle East.

The three destroyers are currently sailing in the Arabian Sea in support of the blockade against Iran, according to the command.

CENTCOM also shared photos of the U.S. Navy destroyers during their operations in the region.

The command said U.S. naval forces have blocked vessels attempting to enter or leave Iranian ports and redirected them to different routes.

It also shared images showing a U.S. destroyer blocking and turning back an oil tanker that was trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. Navy placed the Strait of Hormuz under blockade on April 13 to stop access to and from Iranian ports after the first round of negotiations involving Iran and Pakistan failed.
