As in previous years, sunflower and lavender fields in Tekirdag have once again burst into vibrant yellow and purple, creating postcard-worthy landscapes. Located in the city’s rural areas, these colorful fields have become a major attraction for both locals and international visitors.
By offering scenic, picture-perfect views, the sunflower and lavender fields in Türkiye’s northwestern province of Tekirdag are helping boost tourism, particularly among photography enthusiasts.
A region rich in natural color
Omer Faruk Karakucuk, Director of Culture and Tourism in Tekirdag, told Anadolu Agency that the city captures visitors' interest year-round.
Highlighting the region's visual appeal, Karakucuk said, “Tekirdag offers stunning views with its canola, lavender, and sunflower fields. Our lavender gardens, especially from June to mid-July, provide breathtaking scenery and exceptional photography opportunities.”
He emphasized that lavender and sunflowers are not just agricultural products but also play a vital role in enhancing the region’s tourism profile.
“Tekirdag continues to attract attention with its grapes, cherries, lavender, canola, and sunflowers. It is a unique geography where the vibrant colors of nature come together,” he added. “We’re proud to live in such a beautiful region and warmly invite all visitors to experience it.”
Guven Celik, a member of the local photography association, noted that the lavender and sunflower fields provide stunning visuals. By sharing these images on social media, they aim to contribute to the promotion of the city.
Lavender fields across Türkiye attract nationwide attention
The popularity of lavender fields extends beyond Tekirdag. In Suleymanpasa, a district within the province, lavender fields drew hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists during the recent holiday season.
Meanwhile, in Edirne, tens of thousands visited the blooming fields during the annual “Lavender Field Days” event. Further east, Kuyucak village in the Keciborlu district of Isparta has become Türkiye’s unofficial lavender capital, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
These destinations have transformed their vibrant lavender landscapes into powerful seasonal tourism assets, especially appealing to photographers, nature lovers, and social media enthusiasts.
